Life in the digital world takes shape within the screen in various forms. In this world, there is no boundary between the virtual and the real. The identity of the creator and the creature blurs. The world began as a fractal-like formation, much like a cell, generating threads that resemble rhizomes. These threads spread and connect to every pixel on the screen. When the “person” outside the screen turns it on, the screen does not project images frame by frame but instead releases a continuous stream of colorful liquid. This constitutes the living structure and physiological function of the screen in this world. Once the people outside the screen can no longer turn it on, the liquid emerging from the screen parasitizes them, sustaining the screen’s existence. This video presents a virtual world independent of reality through the perspective of the screen as a living organism.
Xiquan YUAN
The form and texture of life are themes that Xiquan Yuan constantly explores. He strives to find traces of life in inorganic materials, investigating the boundaries between life and matter to reveal new forms of existence. His works combine digital technology with art, employing multimedia and interdisciplinary approaches that enrich his creations with unique sensory and interactive experiences. His art navigates between the real and the virtual, with the screen often serving as a bridge between these two worlds. At the same time, he integrates his understanding of images and materials into video production, continuously experimenting with new visual effects.
