“Protist Reverie” is a live, full-dome performance presenting an ongoing computational experiment in Digital Matter. In this art-science hybrid, Digital Life unfolds in real time, in the form of emergent behaviors inspired by the organism Physarum Polycephalum. Algorithmic motion and sonic textures merge into an organic, ever-evolving landscape. Created by Uncharted Limbo, the visuals follow a cycle of Birth, Destruction, and Resurrection, responding to artificial stimuli and real-time audio. Musician Saber Rider crafts an improvisational soundscape, creating a dialogue between code and composition, instinct and structure. Exploring the tension between self and external forces, Protist Reverie is a meditative audiovisual study of adaptation, transformation, and symbiosis.
Uncharted Limbo Collctive
Uncharted Limbo is an award-winning collective of Creative Coders and New Media Artists crafting computational magic at the intersection of Science, Technology & Performing Arts. Inspired by natural phenomena, biological systems and the dynamics of the Human Body in motion, they harness the latest advances in Computer Graphics, Visual Effects and Software Engineering to weave immersive worlds where digital matter and artificial life-forms interact with humans. Their craft is marked by our deep belief in the meaning encapsulated in the Greek word “Technē”: Powerful art cannot exist without exquisite technique. They are the makers of their algorithmic and visual tools, which shape their ideas as much as their artistic vision pushes the boundaries of our technology. Their work has been featured in prestigious institutions and festivals worldwide, including BFI Film Festival, London College of Fashion, Sadler’s Wells Theatre, Victoria & Albert Museum, SAT Montreal, Onassis Stegi and the Arte European Culture TV channel. Recipients of the S+T+ARTS AIR European grant, they explored the nexus of Performing Arts and AI. In 2024, they won the Grand Prix for Digital Craft at Cannes Lions for Spreadbeats (commissioned by Spotify) — a music video coded and experienced entirely in Excel. The 2025 theatrical production “OXYGEN” at Onassis Stegi marks the team’s artistic debut in their homeland, Greece.
