“Our Ashes Are Alive” is a sci-fi XR project expanding in film screening, VR and AR. This particular version is the cinematic VR. It is an experimental storytelling through multimedia collage of AI generated images, 3D world building, 2D cutouts, war-field audio recordings and archival music recordings’. It researches the dialogue between the new and the old, the digital and the physical, the unfamiliar and the familiar. As well as anti-anthropocentrism through the absence of human visual representations. AI generated “in-between-entities” become the space of reflection, and Virtual Reality the space for immersion.
Vanessa Ferle
“An interdisciplinary female human, born by the sea, combining arts, design and science; through experimentations, correlations, and collisions.” Vanessa Ferle is an artist, graphic designer and former-neuroscientist based in Athens, Greece. She has studied biology, neuroscience, digital arts and new media in Athens and Paris. She is combining her interdisciplinary interests in artistic projects and research. Her motto is “Stay an animal away, and you will see a human closer”, which sums up her concept that animal representations and animal characteristics in art -through anthropomorphism and zoomorphism- can make storytelling exceptionally penetrative emotionally and provoke unique feelings. She considers smart technologies part of a meta-animal world, where the animacy of machines and new media, such as VR, AR, & AI, can contribute to the creation of new and novel artistic experiences.
