A busy stadium is filled with the cheers of football fans, who expect the game to unfold as per usual. Due to an intervention from the offsite, the players’ machinic bodies give in and start failing, one parameter at a time. Offsite Error is a result of exploring game modification as artistic irritation practice. Many video games, and sports games in particular, are peculiar curated and reductive simulations of a slice of our world. In their current state, they mainly serve the purpose of generating revenue for the publishing companies. These simulations have a purpose and they presume a specific order, and as modular and modifiable media, digital games are subject to disruption. A game that cannot be finished cannot benefit the winners.
