“Our history, like our future, is never too far away.” The KAIROS* project from writer and artist J.E.A.N. (Jean-Robert Saintil) explores themes of alienation, post-capitalism and post-colonialism through the lens of future-scoping. The question of ‘what lies beyond the horizon of our current epoch’ is at the core. Starting at a point of radical deconstruction, while using the visual cues of sci-fi and video self-reportage, KAIROS presents the viewer with stories of possible futures, neither utopian or dystopian but all too human. It begs the question – if you look into the future, what kind of vision would you like to see…and are you willing to be part of the change to make it become a reality.

J.E.A.N. is the creative moniker of artist, creative practitioner and speaker, Jean-Robert Saintil. His personal and professional work tends to stem from cultural contextualisation, perspectivism and humanism. J.E.A.N.’s KAIROS project is an optimistic practice that aims to inspire action and active reflection, while confronting the realities of hauntological referents – no future is borne pure, but this knowledge provides a glimmer of possibility – that what we do today, can become the foundation of what comes after.
