Fly to You
Fly To You is an immersive VR Cine Poem exploring the lifelong heartbreak of family separation caused by the Korean War. Following 85-year-old Kang Song-jeol, who lost contact with her older sister Saetbyeol over seventy years ago, it captures her poignant memories and enduring hope for reunion. Using volumetric capture and NeRF technology, Fly To You reconstructs the landscapes, sounds, and fragrances of Kang’s North Korean hometown, transporting viewers beyond physical and political barriers. Recognized by international immersive showcases such as Raindance Immersive, Kaohsiung Film Festival, and SXSW XR, this evocative experience reveals the deep human toll of geopolitics, urging empathy and reflection on the universal pain of separation.
Sngmoo Lee
Creator Sngmoo Lee is a filmmaker, professor, and AI/XR creator whose works bridge narrative, culture, and emerging technology. As the founding director of the Art and Technology Lab at Korea National University of Arts, he nurtures the next generation of innovators. His projects have been showcased at festivals including Sundance, Cannes, and Tribeca, garnering honors such as the Spirit of Raindance Award and Best Technology Innovation Award from Sandbox Immersive. Youngyun Song
Director Youngyun Song is a multimedia director whose work blends VR/XR technologies and documentary storytelling to shed light on pressing social issues. His notable projects include Let’s Peace!, the VR experiences Rain Fruits and Fly To You (2024). By fusing point cloud, VFX, volumetric capture, and NeRF techniques, he brings viewers into immersive narratives—from a migrant worker’s fragmented life to the enduring trauma of families separated by war. Recognized at Kaohsiung International Film Festival and Raindance Immersive, Song’s innovative approach transforms passive observation into participatory engagement, advancing immersive content creation as a platform for impactful social discourse.
