DRINK THE RIVER offers a critical reimagination of the River Eden in Cumbria, northern England. Moving between the worlds of river and human body, porosity between these watery bodies is emphasised and the human-river-sewage cycle is explored as the player navigates these contested spaces. The video game and resulting installation seeks to highlight the realities of sewage pollution into the river (the Eden is the 10th most polluted river in the UK), whilst offering a hopeful reimagination for redrawing boundaries between ourselves and the leaky river.
